852   imagePLATE 11 -OG - ON COVER WITH BLACK MALTESE CROSS OF CHESTERFIELD; 15 Mar. 1841 EL from "Brampton" (the small village near Chesterfield) to Hathersage franked by a Plate XI 1d Black (OG, good margins on three sides just shaved at right; hint of tiny crease at top right does not detract) tied by a fine black Chesterfield Maltese Cross with a red supporting "CHESTERFIELD" cds across the join on the reverse (this PO was clearly using up the old red MX ink stocks for its cds having only recently introduced black MXs). One of only three Plate XI covers recorded from Chesterfield (and see next lot). [SG £16,000.] Cross Reference: DERBYSHIRE (Image)

853   imagePLATE 11 - LB-LC PAIR - ON COVER WITH BLACK MALTESE CROSS OF CHESTERFIELD; 28 Nov. 1841 E from the "Vicar of Chesterfield" to "Heanor, Derby" franked by a PAIR of Plate XI 1d Blacks (LB-LC, good margins all round though just shaved at lower right; slight stain at top right does not detract) tied by heavy black Chesterfield Maltese Crosses with a very fine matching "CHESTERFIELD" cds on the top flap. One of only three Plate XI covers recorded from Chesterfield (and see next lot). Very few pairs of Plate XI on cover have been recorded. [SG £16,000 for a single on cover; with the same multiplier as for an off-cover pair, the figure for a pair on cover should be c.£40,000.] Cross Reference: DERBYSHIRE (Image)
