1097   imageUNPLATEABLE! - VERY RARE, APPARENT/POSSIBLE SUCCESSFUL POSTAL FRAUD - Feb. 1841 E to Durham with grossly cut-into 1d black, both sides missing upper and lower corner squares, tied by red MX, CAMBRIDGE cds on the top flap. We cannot recall seeing a 1d black this small before; the question is posed whether it was trimmed to remove a prior cancellation in a successful attempt to re-use the stamp. Very rare and of undoubted exhibit quality. Purchased in 2003 for £300. Cross Reference: CAMBRIDGESHIRE (Image)

Possibly an attempt to trim a prior cancel, and if so successful postal fraud. Rare. Purchased in 2013 for £340. Cross Reference: IRELAND PRE-1922 - POSTAL HISTORY (Image)
