Backstamped Udine-Verona, Milano Staz. and Chiavara; pair of Official stampless letter sheets, both sent from Genoa to Venice by the Direzione Generale Della Sanita Marittima. Contents ref. Cholera, Lazarettos, etc. The earlier, 28 Jul. 1854 sheet bears the oval cachet "R.POSTE/DIREZIONE/DI/SANITA MARITTa/IN GENOVA" in green and has a 30 Jul. Venice arrival mark. The 7 Sep. 1857 sheet has the same cachet in black, but has travelled via Vienna, having Vienna 11 Sep. and Venice 13 Sep. arrival marks. Unusual.
