2151   imagePOST OFFICE "REGULATIONS" NOTICE REF. PAPER/CARD TO BE USED FOR S.T.O. STATIONERY; Foolscap July 1919 sheet (printed both sides; "3000 7-19" imprint at foot) giving precise instructions as to how stamped to order envelopes and postcards could be ordered; postage ("Postage Duty") had to be paid in advance and the paper or card had to be sent in full sheets with exact details of what was required. On the reverse there is a "List of Provincial Towns where Postage Duty may be paid at the local Stamp Office" (41 English or Welsh towns in all are listed; from Bangor to York). 2152   imageRAREST USED KGVI POSTAL STATIONERY ITEM? - TETE-BECHE 1d+½d BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE LETTER-SHEET; Very fine 26 Sept. 1952 outward usage (to Bradwell "via Sheffield") of the complete twin "National Blood Transfusion Service" outward + return letter-sheet (tea-cup? circle stain on reverse of outward half) with ½d Orange + 1d Red stamps cancelled by a very fine Bakewell/Derbyshire machine cancel, with the ½d Orange + 1d Red return half still attached and unused. The contents are a third urgent request to give blood and mentions the free bus to Bamford that will be available. This is Baker/Huggins CS125 (classified as Official s.t.o. reply-card) of which only one or two other examples have been recorded; it is apparently missing from most of the great Postal Stationery collections. From the very first year of King Edward III's long reign. Good example of mediaeval hand-writing from the period before any British letters have been recorded in private hands.
