5129 cover image1872: Typographed 1 pi. red used on 1872 cover to Cairo tied by good strike of rare MINUF "Maktab bosta Khedewiya Masriya" intaglio seal handstamp in black with manuscript at right "Minuf 2/27/6/72" (second post) with small part of Cairo arrival cds on reverse. Minuf / Menouf in the Nile Delta, should have been issued with an 1869/71 "V.R. Poste Egiziane" datestamp. This is presumed to have been lost as it remains unrecorded on a stamp. The next issue of datestamps reading "Poste Khedevie Egiziane" are known used from Minuf from January 1873. Lower flap missing but very rare. Cert.
