Reverse, arrival “NEWARK AU13 75”. Fine. 90259 cover image1877: Colon 5 centavos carmine and 20 centavos green, fresh colours, tied by duplex cancel “VALPARAISO MAR 2” to letter sheet with content, endorsed “par Panama”, sent fully paid via British packet via Southampton to Hamburg, reverse with "hamburg 1 13/4" transit cds. and “HAMBURG POESELDORF 13 4 78” arrival. Correctly pre-paid at the 25 centavos rate for the first weight step under the 1875 Chilean-German Bilater Postal Treaty, which offered the possibility to send mail to Europe via Germany fully paid either via Southampton or via Hamburg or Bremen. 90260 cover image1877: Columbus rouletted, 10 centavos blue, 20 centavos green, with 1878/99, 1 centavo green, 5 centavos red, 50 centavos violet block of six and block of ten, mostly of good colour and margins are generally good, tied by cds “ADN DE CORREOS CALLOA 4 JUN 83” (Chilean occupied Peru) to a letter parcel address label, sent to Rome, Italy. Heavily creased and reinforced at back. Creasing to the adhesives overhanging edges and wear from usage, as is expected. Scarce high-value package; highest recorded Panama surcharge. 90371 cover image1894: Washington, 2 cents carmine, type II, in combination with Chile postage due 1895, se-tenant 2 centavos and 4 centavos red on yellow, all good colour, perforations fair, the former tied by machine cancel “NEW YORK APR 23 1895”, the latter with framed “MULTADA” to a commercial envelope sent to Valparaiso, with charge “T CENTIMES 15”. Light vertical fold, not affecting adhesives. Soiling and a few short perforations to dues. Fine. Scarce se-tenant use of Chile first permanent postage due.
