90200 cover image1864/76: Change of colour, (4d) yellow, fresh colour, fine perforations, tied by oval barred “A10” with cds alongside “ST LUCIA OC 10 82” to an envelope sent to Colchester, England, endorsed “P: R.M.S”. Reverse, arrival cds “COLCHESTER OC 2?”. Small tear top not affecting adhesive. Interesting example, the postage having no stated value contrary to UPU regulations. Comes with three additional items, one interestingly franked with 1882/84 surcharge “FOUR PENCE” yellow, tied by “A10” with cds “ST LUCIA FE 27 83” sent to Bordeaux, France. Again, a non-compliant mailing, the value being in words instead of numerals. Scarce duo. Also, 1891 2½ d. single franking to England (SG 46) and a large fragment bearing 1891 ½ d. on half 6 d. sent to Dominica. Useful group (4) (Image 1) (Image 2)

Fine and scarce block. Comes with additional examples from these surcharged values comprising; “2½ PENCE” brown-red in a block of four (SG 24); “FOUR PENCE” yellow unused single (SG 27); “SIX PENCE” violet in a block of four (SG 28) and “ONE SHILLING” orange single (SG 29). BELLEROPHON” envelope addressed locally and to be applied for on arrival of a ship. Undelivered, redirected to Halifax Canada with additional cds “ST LUCIA JA 19 92”. Reverse, arrival cds “HALIFAX CANADA MR 26 92”. Redirected to England with transit cds “DEVONPORT AP 20 92” and arrival cds “PLYMOUTH AP 25 92” to the reverse. Unusually, an official paid cds in red “OFFICIAL PAID BEDFORD STREET WO AP 25 92” to front and two squared circles one to the front and one to reverse “PLYMOUTH AP 26 92”, with an admiralty cachet in blue, also to the front. Fine and characterful cover. Scarce with the Official franking. Note: Military Forces abroad. Manuscript credit mark "1/3d." below in red crayon and 'London/ Paid' cds of transit (July 29) with circular PD in red. Calais transit also on obverse with Paris arrival on reverse. Also, to front, a red transit oval “REGISTERED LONDON 12 MY 84” and black framed “R”. Reverse, arrival black oval “REGISTERED LONDON 12 MY 84”. One or two perforations overhanging top of envelope.
