London cds on reverse (March 31) and Dunkeld arrival (April). An extremely rare Intervention period cover, almost certainly carried home by another British Naval vessel. Note: Mail from this period from the West Coast of Mexico is rare. HMS Mutine, a Royal Navy vessel, operated in Mexican waters during the 19th century. The ship was involved in hydrographic surveys and other activities along the Mexican coast, at ports including Guaymas, Mazatlan, San Blas and Acapulco. The UK Hydrographic Office Archive contains records related to HMS Mutine's service in Mexico and other parts of the west coast of Central and South America (Image 1) (Image 2)
