90173 cover image1877: Stationery postal card handstruck 3 pence red, “Penitentiary card”, used with cds “MONTEGO BAY JAMAICA DE 23 78” sent to St Johns, Antigua, with cds “KINGSTON JAMAICA DE 24 78” and manuscript “Inadmissible - Antigua not comprised in Postal Union”. Minor stains. Fine and intriguing example. Comes with an unused example of the same card, and another example of a used 3d card sent from Buff Bay to Ilfracombe, England (H&G 6a). (H&G 3)Note: Jamaica took a stringent interpretation of the GPU rules that postal cards could not be sent to non-members at GPU rates - although that rule was actually not applicable to bilateral agreements with non-members where postal cards did not have to transit other GPU members.
