1667 cover imageFrance / Greenland Fishing Fleet 1932: Extremely Rare Cover Carried from the Cod Fishing Vessel 'Gure-herria' via Supply Ship 'Émilie de Cherbourg'. 1932 (Oct 8): Envelope from the French cod fishing banks off Greenland, posted in open sea from the vessel 'Gure-herria' and transferred to the supply vessel 'Émilie de Cherbourg', with large boxed violet handstamp “CAMPAGNE du GROENLAND / NAVIRE RAVITAILLEUR EMILIE” on reverse. Conveyed to Saint-Pierre et Miquelon and struck with cds. (8.10.32), then carried onward to France, taxed on arrival with 1 fr. “Taxe” adhesive tied by St. Servan cds.(16.10.32). Two corner creases. An outstanding and important postal history rarity; only three such covers are recorded from the 1932 French fishing fleet operating off Greenland. A remarkable exhibition item, combining maritime history, Saint-Pierre transit, and French due marking. Ex. Jørgen Jørgensen "FISHERIES" (Image 1) (Image 2)

90160 cover image1881: Stationery postal card 1 penny light blue on thin buff card, uprated with 1881, surcharged “Postage Half-Penny” mauve, fresh colour and fine perforations, tied by cds “GRENADA JY 27 81” with additional strike alongside, sent to Ipswich, England. Reverse, a partial railway transit “…ORTING TENDER AU 12 81”. A fine example. Very rare card; uprated with adhesive it is a great rarity of Grenada. One of two uses of the half-penny UPU rate stamp on stationery card. Note: Perkins Bacon printed 500 post cards of this type and value, most of which were sold unused to overseas dealers, or to sailors, who would sell them for a profit.
