King George III 1809 (Jan 26): King George III signatures: letter datelined at top "Windsor Castle, Jany 26, 1809" regarding British Naval Forces at Lisbon and Cadiz: "The King entirely approves of the arrangements which are
proposed in Lord Mulgrave's letter for completing the Naval Force at Lisbon and Cadiz so as to render it adequate to the services which may be required" and signed at base "George"; sold together with a large part of a Military commission with
embossed crest, clearly and more boldly signed "George" and thus probably signed some years earlier. George IV was appointed Regent on behalf of his father in 1811 due to the decline of the King's health through Porphyria (Image 1)

1902: 1 d. scarlet and 6 d. pale dull purple, used on 1906 registered mourning envelope to "Her Majesty the Queen, The Palace, Christiania, Norway" tied by "BUCKINGHAM PALACE" cds's (April 18) with King Edward VII's Royal
Cypher "ER/VII" in violet and initialled by the King at lower left corner of the envelope. A fine and rare cover addressed to Princess Maud, Edward's youngest daughter who had married Prince Charles of Denmark. In 1905 Charles accepted the Crown of
Norway and became King Haakon VII. Note: At the time of this letter King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra were setting off to cruise Greece and Italy. The envelope bears the embossed "♚ / H.M. Yacht Victoria & Albert" on reverse (Image 1)

just received the enclosed most interesting proofs of Great Britain from Lord Crawford (I have thanked him). I also send you his letter from which you will see that he wishes me to select any of them I want for my collection, after you have chosen
the ones you wish to keep, you might send him back the remainder if there are any. They will be a very valuable addition to my collection. I am just leaving for Sandringham. In haste, very sincerely yours, George". The envelope bears a 1902 1 d.
scarlet tied by blurred London SW cds (Oct 17) with George's Cypher in ink "G" at the lower left corner of the envelope. An extremely rare and wonderful item of philatelic history (Image 1)

King Edward VIII 1937 (June 17): Envelope from King Edward VIII mailed after his abdication, franked by Austria 60 gr. blue tied by "Nöstsch / Im Galital" datestamp and addressed to Colonel Guy E.C. Rasch CVO, DSO; at the HQ
of the Grenadier Guards in London; intialled by Edward's "E" in ink at lower left corner of the envelope and with the Duke of Windsor's seal on reverse flap of the envelope. Rasch and the Duke had served in the Grenadier Guards during the First World
War. At this date the Duke was staying, courtesy of the Baron & Baroness Eugene de Rothschild at Schloss Enzesfeld, whilst awaiting Wallis Simpson's divorce to become absolute. Edward later stated (Daily Telegraph, March 5, 1967) "Wallis was in
Cannes. The two of us were under stern warning from our lawyers to avoid even the most casual contact". Rare (Image 1)

have had an offer of 1 s. 6 d. for the yellow Lübeck and I think I shall take it and buy some stamps we have not got for the money...." and later continues "I have just sold the yellow Lübeck for 2 shillings and some crests and shall buy some others

Stamp Collecting 1901 (Aug 27): Mourning envelope and letter written from "HMS Ophir" headed "Cape Town to St. Vincent", written by B. Godfrey-Faussee, ADC to His Royal Highness the Duke of Cornwall and York (later George V),
the cover presumably carried back by a Naval vessel to London where mailed by 1881 1 d. lilac to J.A. Tilleard in London. The long contents dictated by George update the Curator of the Royal Philatelic Collection on stamps received or purchased for
the collection during the 1901 Tour of the British Empire: "All through Australia and New Zealand we obtained three stamps of each value of the Current Issue, but at Mauritius, Natal and the Cape ... we got blocks of four....at the Cape of Good Hope
we got four of the 5 s. orange Crown CA watermark... At Mauritius we got a few good ones, tho' not the old "Post Office" one - the last we heard of was sold recently in London for £ 900!" (Image 1)
