3207 image1850: 1 d. reddish-rose, Plate I (positions 21-22) in a horizontal pair with huge margins all round the right hand stamp with insignificant surface scuff at top, used with single 3 d. myrtle-green on soft yellowish paper (position 14), large margins all round and slightly overlapping the pair, on the famous 1850 cover from Gresford to Hobart, Van Diemen's Land all tied by bold strikes of "61" barred obliterators in black. Obverse with oval "PAID SHIP LETTER / ? / SYDNEY" in red (May 8) and manuscript "4d." due for incoming Ship fee; reverse "GRESFORD / ?  / NEW S. WALES" despatch datestamp (May 6) and Crowned "PATTERSON" transit together with framed "SHIP LETTER" Hobart arrival (June  8) in black. Palmer cover census #108. Just three covers are recorded with the rare 3 d. myrtle-green. A magnificent and extremely attractive cover for the connoisseur (see the extraordinary provenances below) of the Sydney Views. Cert. 3212 image1850: 1 d. crimson-lake on hard greyish mdium paper, Plate II (positions 11-12-13-14), the used horizontal strip of four with huge even margins all round, used on 1851 double rate entire letter to Albury, all crisply cancelled by "48" barred oval obliterators of Tarcutta in black. Reverse with oval "TARCUTTA / ? / NEW S. WALES" despatch in black (Sept 29) and faint Albury arrival of the following day. File folds well away from the adhesives, a splendid and beautiful entire with just two covers recorded with a strip of four of the Sydney View Plate II 1 d., this being without doubt the finest.
