contents to Malton, Yorkshire tied by scarce "5" numeral obliterator with "GUILDFORD / WESTERN AUSTRALIA" datestamp alongside (March 21). The contents mention: "the prospect of telegraphic communications between this Colony and England..." and "a
rare sight in Guildford a few months ago - a party of explorers who had come through the bush from South Australia arrived with 17 camels..." (this would have been the 4th expedition lead by Ernest Giles (1835-1897) which left Beltana, South
Australia carrying water, but in September failed to find any more for 17 days until an aborigine named Tommy located water in the Great Victoria Desert for them. The Expedition arrived in Guildford on 17 Nov 1875). A charming and most attractive
