10218 image1886/96: 'Long Stamps' £ 1 blue (two examples) and £ 2 Venetian red (2), used on large part of 1900 linen Parcel tag to the Royal Mint in Melbourne also franked with 5 d. brown-purple, 1 s. brown and 2 s. rose-carmine all tied by "WALLAROO" squared circle datestamps (Dec 27) in black. The reverse showing "without letter from" endorsement and oval "Wallaro Smelting Work" oval. A truly remarkable Exhibition piece.rnNote: The maximum weight the Post Office would accept was 11 pounds. In excess of that weight, the letter rate was applied to the entire weight of the parcel: in this case, the postage of £6/3s./5d. represents an inter-Colonial letter rate of 2 d. per ½ ounce x 739 for a parcel weighing 23 pounds.
