Red crayon "1" penny due to France and struck on arrival with "8d. / TO PAY" in blue. Reverse with London transit in red (Feb 7) and Mauritius arrival (June 22) in blue. (Yvert 48+49), each used as single frankings to Mauritius, the 40 c. orange, clear to good margins, on March 1871 entire from Bordeaux tied '532' gros chiffres, endorsed "par le Equateur" and carried via the Cape, struck on arrival with "6d. / TO PAY" in blue, second entire from May 1871 carried on the "Donnai" to Aden with magnificent 80 c. carmine with huge margins all round tied by Nantes '2602' gros chiffres in black. Carried on the French steamer "Yarra" with circular "LIGNE T / PAQ. FR. No. 1" datestamp in black (Jan 1). Reverse with Townsville and Brisbane (Dec 20) transits and Port Louis arrival cds (Jan 17, 1887). Slight horizontal bend crosses the adhesives but this is the second earliest of just four pre-UPU covers from Queenland recorded in the Ben Palmer census (page 269).
