6018 imageRecess by Perkins Bacon 1858/59: Master Design Die Proof as utilised for the 4 d., 8 d., 9 d., 1/9 d. and 2 s. values, printed in black, imperforate on thin India paper (33 x 40 mm.), with POSTAGE at top, taken from the Tasmania 6 d. Die but with "TASMANIA" and "SIX PENCE" erased by engine turning at top and at base respectively. There are three recorded examples of this rare Proof, one was in the Hackmey collection (sale 1, lot 28), the other is housed in the collection of His Majesty King Charles III.
