5339 image1865/67: 2 d. blue postal stationery envelope fronts (3) all used from London to Prescot with 2 d. blue cut-outs, each with beautiful comic illustrations in colour, including one of a dancer and another with address inscribed on Sandwich board advertiser, a delightful and scarce trio all drawn by Henry 'Harry' Culshaw - see "British Pictorial Envelopes of the 19th Century" by Jarvis, Bodily & Hahn page 285 for further examples by the same artist. 5340 image1855 (Nov 26): Postal Notice "EMBOSSED POSTAGE STAMPS to be struck upon / Paper and Envelopes" showing 4 d, vermilion (7.12.55), 6 d. mauve (7.12.55) and 1 s. green (7.12.55). In October 1855 the GPO offered to stamp items of Postal Stationer sent to Somerset House with embossed stamps; the initial Dies available were 1 d., 2 d., 4 d., 6 d. and 1 s. To make up different rate amounts the GPO offered composite printings or "Compound Stamping". Three vertical creases but a fine example of this scarce Notice. (Image 1) (Image 2)

5345 imageAdvertising Rings 1889: The Marble Sparkling Water Works square design surrounding 1 d. pink, the 1889 cover to London with the rarest (and only square) advertising ring in pink cancelled by "Ramsgate / 634" duplex (March 3, 1889), together with a cut-out example also cancelled at Ramsgate (Dec 5, 1888). Small imperfections but very rare. We know of only one other "Marble Sparkling Water Works" envelope in the Dr.Alan Huggins collection. (Image 1)
