6573 image1877 (Aug 21): Entire letter from Carmagnola to Marseille, bearing a mixed franking of 1867 (April) Torino printing 20 c. blue in a mixed franking with 1877 10 c. blue, two fresh and fine adhesives, tied by clear '669' numeral obliterator, matching CARMAGNOLA despatch cds in black and French "ITALIE LANSLEBOURG 22 AOUT 77" entry cds in violet alongside. Reverse with Lyon transit and MARSEILLE arrival (Aug 23) cds's. Light horizontal file fold just mentioned for accuracy, an exceptionally rare 'gemelli' franking of the same colour, but different design and denomination, possible only in August 1877, when the 1877 definitive had been issued while the 20 c. definitive was not longer valuable than end of that month. 6579 image1889 (Nov 18): Local registered envelope within Roma, bearing the extremely rare 30 c. brown, tied by "ROMA SUCCe N° 1" with matching registration label alongside. Reverse with "ROMA (RACCOM.)" arrival cds of the same day. An extremely rare usage of the Umberto 30 c. definitive, which was sold to the public only for a short time in few larger offices such as Firenze, Genova, Livorno, Milano, Napoli, Padova, Palermo, Roma and Torino. Two horizontal file folds not touching the adhesive. Of outmost rarity, here it was used very late in November 1889, only one month before it was invalidated at the end of December 1889. Signed E. N.1" despatch cds and registration label alongside. Reverse with MILANO arrival (July 8) cds's. Vertical file fold well away from the franking, wax seals cut out from the reverse, nevertheless a usage of utmost rarity, the Umberto 30 c. definitive was used here to pay the registration fee, while the 20 c. adhesive paid the single letter rate.
