6213 image1871/72: Large-sized registered cover of the sixth weight rate from Lyon to Ivry, bearing a mass franking of Cêrès 30 c. brown in a block of eight and 25 c. blue type III (pre-use fold, corner fault) as well as Sage 5 c. green Type I, two single adhesives, cancelled / tied by despatch (Dec 29, 76) cds with framed 'R' in violet alongside. Reverse with arrival cds of the next day. Some wrinkles as to be expected from an item of that sheer size and weight, nevertheless ab appealing franking paying correctly 225 c. for a cover with a weight between 150 and 200 gram plus 50 c. registration fee. 6217 image1873: Cêrès 10 c. brown on rose paper, a horizontal strip of three with a tête-bêche in the middle, a fresh and fine multiple, tied by crisp Gros Chiffres '3917' numeral lozenge to cover front from Templeuve to Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium with the matching despatch cds (Feb 16, 76) and framed PD in red alongside. Reverse with BRUXELLES transit cds of the next day. All backflaps are missing nearly completely, horizontal file fold split at right, in spite of these limitations an exceptional and rare tête-bêche pair used abroad. The adhesive left uncancelled with "ORAN ALGERIE 16 FEVR 76" despatch cds in black alongside. The franking was not accepted, a handwritten note "Loi du 16 Octobre 1849" was added at the right of the stamp. Taxed in manuscript with '4' dêcimes for an unpaid letter. Signed Dillemann; certs.
