Maxence to Rouen, light despatch cds (Sept. 18, 71) alongside. Reverse with two ambulant and arrival (Sept 19) cds's. Horizontal file fold, paper tear away from the stamps, nevertheless an appealing item with the bisected adhesive added to pay the new September 1871 rate. 6169 image1870: Double rate Entire letter sent on the first day of the new tariff from Raismes to Valenciennes, bearing Bordeaux 5 c. green report 2 in mixed franking with Siège 20 c. blue, each stamp in a fine and fresh horizontal pair, each adhesive tied by Gros Chiffres '3077' numeral lozenge, despatch cds (Sept 1, 1871) alongside, reverse with arrival cds of the same day. An interesting combination to pay the new 50 centimes double rate introduced that day. Reverse with "KRIEGSGEFANGENEN - DEPOT DRESDEN" handstamp in bluish green, distribution (July 3) cds and Marseille ambulant. The cover was found to be underfranked, but not taxed.
