1247 image1640 (May 18): Francesco Erizzo (1566 – 1646) the 98th Doge of Venice (1631-1646), Large and intact vellum document with calligraphic title: FRANCISCUS ERIZZO DEI GRA DUX VENETIAR with 21 text lines, dated MDCXXXX, May 18 and two line archive note dated '24 Augusti 1640' and complete lead seal attached. to Family Selvatico. Francesco Erizzo, born into a patrician family from Istria, was elected as Doge of Venice in the midst of the Italian plague of 1629–1631, which killed one third of the population of Venice, including Erizzo's predecessor Nicolò Contarini. 1250 image1723: Alvise III Sebastiano Mocenigo (1662–1732) the 112th Doge of Venice (1722 to 1732). Vellum manuscript. Fine and complete parchment document with official lead seal "ALVISIUS MOCENICO DEI GR(ATI)A D(UX) VENETIA (RUM) ET C(etera) with attached Notary act and the debts/credits list to the Family Selvatico. Born into one of the most important families (the House of Mocenigo) of the Venetian aristocracy, he was a famous Doge of the Republic of Venice in the 18th century, when the power of Venice started to decline. He dedicated his political life to defending Venetian possessions in the Balkans from the Ottoman Empire. When the second Ottoman siege of Corfu occurred in 1716, he was mainly responsible for strengthening Venetian fortifications that successfully resisted the attack. (Image 1)

Henry Stammetz and sent via Venice and Rome to Naples arriving Oct. 8, showing fine strike of GERMANIA handstamp in red, disinfected on an undeterminded point along the route. In addition 1779 letter from Pera (Constantinople) endorsed 'netto di fuora' on the route to Venice with red paper seal of disinfection on arrival. (Image 1)

1260 image1819/1842: Quarantine Hospital of Rothenthurn, two entire letters from Constantinople to Venice struck with 'Sigillum Sanitatis' h.s. in black as well as 1842 letter from Salonique to Trieste, in Semlin opened and disinfected "NETTA DI FUORA E DI DENTRO' with applied wax seal 'SIGIL SANITATIS SEMLINIENSIS' on reverse. Note: The Austrian Government set a 'cordon sanitaire' at rhe border to the territories ruled by the Ottoman Empire.
