1200 imageOutgoing to the Ioninan Islands 1862: Partially prepaid cover from Pilos to Zante, franked with 1861 Paris print 40 l. mauve on blue and Athens fine impression 10 l. orange, of fine vivid colour, good margins but the 10 l. touched, each stamp tied by '26' numeral of Pilos. Despatch cds (April 13) with inverted year slug and Zakyntos arrival cds (Apr 26) in blue alongside. The 50 lepta franking paid the journey to the Zakynthos disembarkation harbour, the receiver had to pay '1' (penny) internal rate which was noted on front in red crayon. Attractive cover from Greece to the Ionian Islands, which were under British rule until 1864 Hellas 6a+12/IIa. (Image 1) (Image 2)
