58 image1821 (Dec 1): Printed entire letter from Valparaiso to Nantes, France stating that Peru was now Independent under General San Martin, and that Peru had opened their Ports to all countries of the World with the exception of Spain, with whom it was still at war. One of the first letters not transported by Spanish mail and ships. The entire travelled via the Magellan Straits (a journey time of eight months) and was struck on arrival with manuscript "Colonies Par" 34 / ST. SERVAN handstamp in black. Rare. 60 image1831 (Dec 20): Ship's register cover from the Customs (Aduana) of Copiapo to the Customs in Chiloe, carried by the Frigate 'N. Pacifico' on a voyage to Chiloe, struck with fine strike of FRANCA and COPIAPO handstamps in black. Reverse with full docketing of arrival in Chiloe (Jan 18, 1832). One of two recorded ship's register of present day Chile, a most appealing and rare cover. (Image 1)
