On the address side a transit mark "HILLAH" and a "NEW YORK 6 CENTS DUE" cachet can be found together with two pre-cancelled "GARFIELD NJ" postage due stamps. A very scarce card. Proud = 250 pts. 493 image1925-1942: Batch of ten covers, going on the Baghdad Haifa overland Route. This includes a letter from "AL KHOBAR", Saudi Arabia via Bahrain to the US a letter from Baghdad to Damascus with tied red "OVERLAND MAIL" label, as well as two further letters bearing the same label. There is also mail from Persia via this route endorsed "Service transdesertique via Bagdhad", as well as incoming mail the other way. Obverse with Turkey 1915 10 pa. green optd. Star & Crescent in red on tied solely by the "Adjiloun" transit cds (Coles & Walker fig. 1). Reverse with superb impression of the MAAN negative seal Censor handstamp in black and Damas cds in black of receipt (Sept 27). Central file fold but a stunning and very rare, probably unique, cover.
