1384 imageBatum / Adjara, Turkish occupation 1918 (Oct): Turkish Fieldpost cancellations "BATUM No. 2" and "BATUM No. 3" (Coles & Walker fig. B2 and unlisted resp.) on 1916/17 definitives 20 pa. carmine and 1 pi. violet, respectively in blocks of four. The 20 pa. block is on a stationery cutout, the 1 pi block on an official document with the handstamp of the head of the administration of Batum fortified zone on reverse. A fine and interesting duo, normally these Fieldpost cancellations of Batum are only found on newspaper cutouts and CTO, in this condition rare. (Image 1)

1393 imageLiannos Private Post, Postage Dues 1866: (20 pa.) black on rose-pink paper, 4th printing (without horizontal line between 'Taxe Ext: and Taxe Int:'), the famous used horizontal pair, each Postage Due label with manuscript '1' in ink and total below each of 1.20 for a 3 piastres total charge, cancelled by oval "Galata" datestamp in black. Slight thin and closed cut between the stamps at base but extraordinarily rare, believed to be the sole recorded used multiple from any of the Settings. Cert. The multiple is sold with a detailed list identifying the ten types on the printing Stone Mi = € 12'500 for first printing.rnNote: Believed to have been issued in sheets of 200 stamps, the (few) blocks of fifty being the largest recorded multiples. Blocks also occur with the Arms watermark together with ETTORE DE RITTER / PODGORA watermarked lettering.
