3270 image1859: 1 p. carmine, a used horizontal strip of three, imperceptibly touched at lower left to large margins, minor diagonal bend but of wonderful vibrant colour, neatly cancelled by large part strikes of BOGOT Opera glass handstamps in black. Exceptionally rare - when offered by Siegel pronounced as the "only used multiple of the first issue 1 peso large than a pair", this being the largest used multiple showing a cancellation; the Goeggel collection did, however boast a manuscript cancelled strip of three (Corinphila, sale 178, 27 Feb 2013, lot 4327). A great rarity and exhibition piece.rnrnProvenance: Collection Norman Hubbard, Siegel, New York, 6 June 2008, lot 202.rnrn (Image 1) (Image 2)
