GLIMPSES of PENANG from 1890s to 1940s: Topical Collection of Penang picture post cards illustrating the city of George Town (today Pulau Pinang), Swettenham Pier, suburbs, Penang Hill, and coastal villages and settlements, majority of cards franked w/ Straits Settlements stamps (Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, George V, George VI) and commercially used to foreign destinations. Only few cards dated 1950s and later in supplementary folder. Illustrations show land scapes, downtown buildings, hotels, street life, land marks, nature, panoramas etc etc), apart from monochrome cards plenty of multi-colored views. Total 9 album volumes, comprising hundreds of postal history items! Although the collection itself is not written-up or sorted, this quantity of historical post cards forms an exceptional estate of Penang pictorial images and postal history.
