The adhesive just touched at lower left, good to large margins else, lettersheet and adhesive bearing original strikes of the red MC, light diagonal crease through lettersheet and stamp, otherwise in very fresh state of preservation. The 2d. rate for a double-weight letter from ½ ounce to less than 1 ounce. A remarkable and scarce Mulready. K.-A. Louis certificate, Prof. Dr. U.E. 1840 Mulready envelope 1d. black, stereo A170 from Forme 3, uprated by 1d. black, probably plate 1A, lettered "DA", tied by red Maltese Crosses, used from Portsmouth to Newport on the Isle of Wight, with black "PORTSMOUTH/AU 13/1840" despatch c.d.s. on front. The adhesive of fresh colour, with white margins all round, a light horiz. crease through envelope and adhesive and a little punch hole left of adhesive, otherwise fine. A most attractive Mulready uprated by a Penny Black. Signed "PRÖSCHOLD BPP".
