1877 1811-59 Entire letters (3) and entires (5) to England, two with oval "SHIP LETTER / (crown) / CAPE OF GOOD HOPE" (one endorsed by the H.E.I.C extra ship "Carmarthen"), one with oval Portsmouth Ship Letter, four with India Letter handstamps of Deal (3, one in red) or Portsmouth (per H.M Ship "Success"), two others endorsed by H.M.S "Eurydice" or "Brilliant" with boxed Packet Letter of London. Also an 1859 entire from George with "6d" charge mark of London. (8).

1878 1817-40 Entires to Cape Town comprising 1817 entire endorsed by the "Venus" with London India Ship Letter c.d.s (In.1) charged 1/2; 1827 entire from London "p. Jessie" charged 4d; 1834 entire "pr. Quebec Trader C.P Bellamy" with oval G.P.O Cape Town datestamp, charged 1/3 (with copy from the Perth Gazette showing the "Quebec Trader" had sailed from Western Australia); and 1840 entire "p. Bark Glenalron" to The Postmaster General with circular Cape Town crowned c.d.s, delivered free. (4).

Lord Charles Somerset was Governor 1814-26; in 1816 he established country Post Offices under paid Postmasters at six towns including George.

1893 1854-78 Stampless official entires sent to The Postmaster General in Cape Town all with oval datestamps, including Villiers-Dorp, Knysna, Fraserburg, Oudsthoorn, Hankey, St. Helena Bay and Humans-Dorp in red, Piquetberg, Blanco, Fort Beaufort, George, Hopefield, Avontuur, Lady-Smith, etc., in black, also Breakeast Vley on a part 1879 cover franked 4d. 1894 image1857 (June 4) Cover from Hitchin to Cape Town franked 6d, carried on the Lindsay Line steamer "Tynemouth" from Dartmouth to Table Bay, the first sea mail to arrive upon which the Cape sea letter rate of 4d was not levied, the cover therefore handstamped "PREPAID" to remind the counter clerks of this fact. Very scarce, the Prepaid handstamp apparently only used on mail from this one sailing sent just after the introduction of the 6d rate, a red "1" showing the Cape share of the postage. 1895 1865-80 Stampless official entires (11) and an entire letter all sent to The Postmaster General in Cape Town, with double arc datestamps of Eerste River or Mill River, or single ring datestamps comprising Emgwali, Kalk Bay, Philipston, Panmure, Hope Town, Clarkbury, Rondebosch, Oudtshoorn, Ookiep in black, and Papendorp in red on a letter from the Postmaster complaining that he received no reply to his previous letter and is still owed two months salary. A fine and scarce group. (12).

1896 imagec.1840-1913 Collection on pages including prestamp letters, 4d and 6d Cape triangulars used and Perkins Bacon 1d mint (all three margins), 1864-77 1d, 4d mint, 4d and 1/- watermark inverted used, 1/- watermark reversed used (wing margin removed), 1874 1d on 6d unused no gum and used, 1d on 1/- mint and used, 1879 3d on 4d "THE. EE" variety or with first "E" in "THREE" virtually missing both used, 1880 Threepence on 4d mint block of four, 1880 3d pale dull rose mint, narrow "3" on 3d mint, 1881 3d deep claret mint, 1882 ½d on Crown CC 3d used, 1882-83 5/- used (2), etc., also some Griqualand overprints and a stockbook of duplicates.
