1858 1906 (July 27) German 2pf reply card, the outward half sent from Berlin to Apia franked by four 2pf stamps, sent to Australia with Perth Dead Letter Office backstamps (Sep 25/Oct 3) before being forwarded to Samoa, Apia arrival c.d.s (17 Jan. 07), violet "INSUFFICIENTLY ADDRESSED" and boxed "REBUT / A L'ONONE". The attached reply half then posted back from Apia (Feb 4) franked 3pf + 5pf, redirected within Berlin. Very unusual.

1871 Randlord Sir Lionel Phillips. The 16 page display formed by Paul van Zeyl (awarded a vermeil at the 2013 South African National Philatelic Exhibition), with covers to Phillips posted within South Africa (3, one 1889 cover registered from Kimberley with eight 1d stamps) or from G.B (4), pictorial Transvaal postal stationery postcards (4, Kaffir Mining Boys, two of the 1895 Jameson Raid, arms of the Boer Republics and European states sympathetic to the Boer cause, three used), picture postcards (9) and ephemera. Phillips was one of the conspirators behind the Jameson Raid for which he was sentenced to death but subsequently released; he served as President of the Chamber of Mines, and later became an M.P for the Transvaal. (20+).

1872 Natal. 1842 (June 12) Four page letter from Lt. General Lewis Griffith, Commanding the Royal Engineers at the Cape, to the Governor, Sir George Napier. Griffith expresses his concerns regarding the position of Captain Smith's camp in Natal and the possibility of it being overpowered by the Boers. He refers to the force under Lt. Col. Cloete then en route to Natal, where they relieved the small force under Capt. Thomas Smith besieged by insurgent Boers near Port Natal. An interesting historical letter, written two years before Natal was annexed as a British Colony, missing its envelope.

1875 c.1720-85 Entires from Holland to the Cape all with fine endorsements, an entire to Catherine Cruse (recorded as widowed in 1719) endorsed by the carpenter Jacob Brouwer on the Bark "Rheewyk"; an entire (dated 1785 in pencil) to C.L Neethling, Secretary of the Council of Justice, endorsed by Cornelius Van Eyk, "onder coopman" on the company ship "Batavier", a third "by a friend over the seas", also a 1744 document. (4).
