Hans Bertram Germany to Australia flight, large unaddressed printed flight cover with "BERTRAM ATLANTIS / EXPEDITION" flight cachet, bearing stamps of all countries visited en route, comprising Germany (Berlin), Switzerland (Lugano), Italy (Venice), Greece (Athens), Syria (Alexandrette), Iraq (Baghdad), Persia (Bushire), India (Bombay), Ceylon (Colombo), Siam (Bangkok), Straits Settlements (Singapore), Netherlands Indies (Batavia) and Australia (Wyndham and Sydney). The flight left Darwin on May 19th but was blown off course and came down near Wyndham; they were not found until July 4th. Fine and scarce, 40 covers flown from Germany to Australia. AAMC 232, $1,750.

Covers from Peshawar or Calcutta to England, recovered from the flying boat "Cygnus" which crashed into the sea off Brindisi on Dec. 4th, both with the stamps washed off, with differing "Damaged by Water" cachets and bilingual "Postage stamp lost in transit". The Peshawar cover with Lahore "Use the Air Mail and save time" backstamp (Nov. 29), the other cover redirected in Suffolk with Dec. 20 datestamp. (2).
