1001 1870 (Oct 15) Entire letter endorsed "Par Ballon Monte", to Tournai, Belgium, franked 10c + 20c tied by "12" in star numerals, no arrival backstamps but endorsed as received on October 18th, carried on Jean Barl II or Jules Favre I, very fine. Also an unused Par Ballon lettersheet, "Lettre - Journal de Paris, Gazette des Absents" No. 35 (4 Feb 1871) printed just after the end of the siege, and a bronze medallion commemorating the ballooning exploits of Henry Gifford. 1002 1870 (Dec 13) Entire with enclosed letter to Nantes, franked 20c tied by "7" in star, endorsed "par ballon monte", Paris R. des Vlles-Haudtes c.d.s, no backstamps. Carried on the Ville de Paris which landed at Wetzlan in Germany, the balloon and mails captured by the Prussians, very fine.

1006 Bleriot. 1909-15 Picture postcards of Bleriot, his cross channel flight, aeroplane, monuments, etc., including a 1909 (July 29) card of Bleriot at Dover posted from Glasgow just four days after the flight with message describing Bleriot's exploits, another fine real Photo card of Bleriot's arrival at Dover posted at Dover on July 30th bearing a Bleriot label, also real photo cards of Bleriot meeting King George V, pupils at his flying school at Etampes (2, a third card from a student pilot at the school with cachet), etc. (57+).

1023 image1913 (Oct 14) Postcard from Paris to Martinique franked 5c, flown from Paris to Bordeaux on October 15th handstamped "PAR AVION", with octagonal "BORDEAUX A COLON / L. D. No 1" datestamp (Oct. 15) and Fort de France arrival c.d.s (Oct. 27). This flight carried a small quantity of mail for the West Indies, which was able to leave by boat from Bordeaux on the same day.
