762 imageLord Howe Island. 1930 (Sep. 4) Cover addressed within Lord Howe Island franked River Murray Tercentenary 1½d with manuscript surcharge "2d Paid PM LHI" tied by a Lord Howe Island c.d.s. When the Lord Howe Island Post Office ran out of 2d stamps the Postmaster was authorised to surcharge 1½d stamps in manuscript; 260 stamps were surcharged and used between August 23rd and October 17th 1930. 768 1934 MacRobertson England to Australia Air Race. Printed cover flown by C.W. Scott and T. Campbell-Black, the winners of the air race with G.B ½d cancelled in West Kensington (Oct 17), reposted registered from Melbourne to London franked 1/2 (Oct 24), signed by both aviators on the reverse. Also a postcard and Photo published by "The Aeroplane" both showing the two aviators and their plane. 100 Covers flown. AAMC 433, $1250. (3).

USA 6c Envelope posted at New York (Sep 26), flown by C.E Pangborn and Roscoe Turner around the world, the England to Australia portion flown as an entrant in the MacRobertson Air Race, with G.B 1½d cancelled at Mildenhall Aerodrome (Oct 20), Australia 3d cancelled at Melbourne (Oct 29) and U.S Air 6c cancelled at New York (Dec 4). Also a cover flown from London to Melbourne by Pangborn and Turner reposted and again flown in 1969 London to Sydney Air Race, cover flown by KLM "Uiver", postcards and photos of various entrants (7), the first cover fine and scarce. 770 image1937 (May 15-18) Germany to Sydney JU.86 first diesel aircraft flight, covers flown from Melbourne to Sydney, Sydney to Brisbane or Townsville to Sydney, all posted upon arrival, signed by two or all three crew. After arrival in Sydney the plane flew on the Sydney to Brisbane route but was found to be unreliable and returned to Germany in parts. Fine and scarce, only twelve covers carried on each leg. Captn Redmond", privately carried.
