476 P.S "Portsdown". 1941 (Sep. 19) Cover from Portsmouth to Sandown, the stamp washed off, handstamped violet "DAMAGED AS A RESULT / OF ENEMY ACTION". The Portsmouth to Ryde paddle steamer "Portsdown" struck a mine on Sept. 20th and sank with the loss of 23 lives; mails were recovered from part of the ship which came to rest on a sandbank.

481 Portsmouth, Southsea and Isle of Wight Aviation Ltd. 1934 First Issue Booklets containing twenty air stamps in five panes of four (2, both first printing, one with staples removed), second printing mint stamps (5), stamp on Ryde to Portsmouth first flight cover signed by the pilot (Feb 3, twenty covers flown), and proof from the defaced plate; second issue booklet containing twenty blue stamps in five panes of four, mint panes of four in black or blue, stamps on first flight covers from Portsmouth to Shanklin (May 7) or Heston to Ryde (Aug 3) both pilot signed (25 flown on each flight), also tickets (2) and a postcard. 483 Rocket Mail. 1934 (Dec 19) Lymington to Yarmouth rocket post first flight labels in a mint sheet of twelve and a single, and used on covers all posted at Lymington franked ½d (6, two with additional 2d stamps cancelled in London, all signed by G. Zucker). Also two covers bearing rocket post labels from the Western Isles (posted at Harris) or Sussex Downs (posted at Brighton). (21).

484 1862 (Jan 8) Mourning cover from Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) posted at Cowes franked 1d, addressed in the Prince's handwriting to "The Honble & Very Revd The Dean of Windsor, Moor Park, Rickmansworth" and initialled "A.E", wax seal impressed with the Prince of Wales feathers and monogram "A.E". A fine cover, written less than a month after the death of his father, Prince Albert.

This Osborne c.d.s only used 1897-1901 at the royal post office at Osborne House, which was only open when The Queen was in residence.

Two 1878 and 1880 covers to "Mrs Jones, Marlborough House, Pall Mall, London" (the 1880 cover in the distinctive handwriting of Alexandra, Princess of Wales), two 1898-99 covers to Lady Wolverton, the last franked 2½d to Bohemia with an Austria 20kr postage due stamp.
