773 Soldiers Letter. 1796 (Jan 31) Entire letter from John McDougal in Lecamore addressed to "Sergt Hugh McCowan, Capt Camerons Company, 2nd Battn Breadalbane Fencibles, Fort George", posted unpaid, charged the 1d concession rate upon delivery, backstamped "OBAN". Upon the outbreak of war with France in 1793 seven Fencible Regiments were raised for service within Scotland; the 1d soldiers concession rate was extended to these Fencible Regiments in May 1795. A fine early soldiers letter, ex Gerald Sattin collection.

774 1826 (May 18) Letter from Sir David Wedderburn, Deputy P.M.G in Edinburgh, to Francis Freeling forwarding a list of distances from Carlisle to post towns in Scotland (list no longer present); also 1867 receipt from A.
