357 1683-1833 Entire letters sent by coach or carriers, comprising 1683 letter from Ashbourne addressed to The Black Mans Head in Nottingham "with a parcel", sent with a 32lb Christmas cheese, also mentioning the rebellious tin miners at Brassington; 1796 letter from Inverness with interesting content "I would have writ before but I waited for the carriers departure .... we had a mob here this week about the grain that is sent out of the country but our volunteers soon dispersed them .... not without being obliged to fire, they wounded several but none very ill but one man was shot in the head but is alive"; 1811 letter from Berwick to the East Lothian Bank in Dunbar endorsed "P. Union Coach carriage paid"; and 1833 letter from Rugeley to Henley in Arden endorsed "per True Blue". (4).

358 1740-46 Bonds with embossed revenue stamps (3); 1814 (June 14) Printed "General Order" from the Commander in Chief ordering an announcement to be made that all letters from N.C.Os or soldiers presented to officers for 1d rate postage must be written by the soldiers themselves and not by other people; and 1874 (Mar 7) printed four page pamphlet advertising mines, minerals and mining rights under the Swinedough Estate (with a map of the Estate) to be sold by auction, posted at Bolton franked 1d. 360 Emigration. 1804 Printed letter from the Australian, New Zealand, Indian, Canadian & General Passenger, Emigration, Shipping & Insurance Office advertising rates for ships to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India or the Cape, with testimonials from colonial settlers, posted from London to Suffolk; and 1853 printed letter from the Scottish Australian Emigration Society advertising berths on the Barque "Eleutheria" to Port Philip for only £15 or £16, for which a deposit of £7.10.00 is required, franked 1d from Glasgow to Saltcoats.
