Worldwide Public Auction - October 24, 2019

Auction 354 has 3,829 lots, catering for all types of collectors & dealers - from bulk accumulations and intact collections to desirable single items.

This auction offers a huge range of material, with special emphasis on lotting stamps to cater for collectors with varying types of interests and budgets. Items range from $30 to $150,000 so there's something for everybody. This auction offers strong representation of Australia & Colonies, strong British Empire material of all areas & periods, as well as General Foreign including small and large collections. There are nearly 300 lots of Australian Collections (Lots 52 - 269) and almost 600 lots of World collections (Lots 270-861).

Following on there is over 1600 lots of Australia which consist of singles, sets and covers including Australian colonies (Lots 922 - 2211). The Australian lots cover all periods, from the Kangaroo issues up to Decimal and contains numerous number of mint & used £1 & £2 top values - this includes a Small Multi Watermark £1 Red-brown & blue. VF fresh MUH, pristine never hinged original gum & beautiful colours. SG 15 cat £3000 for M, should be at least 200% premium MUH for 1st wmk, so £9000. ACSC 51 cat $17,500. Very rare genuine MUH.(Lot 956).

In the Asian section of China - Republic a 1925 Surcharge issue '3 Cts.' in red on Junk 4c slate-grey 2nd Peking printing, error opt INVERTED. Superb fresh MLH, nice original gum & excellent centring. Sc 274a cat US$300,000. SG 370a, Chan 281a. CSS 327b cat US$250,000. One of the greatest rarities of 20th Century Chinese philately, certainly the top of the 'Four Treasures of the Republic'. Only ten examples of this error were originally reported discovered in 1925, seven mint & three used. Amazing opportunity to purchase this pristine quality rarity.Reserve & estimate are conservative. 2010 Philatelic Foundation (New York) photo cert (Lot 2511).

There are almost 1600 lots of World stamps, covers and single country collections (Lots 2212 - 3826) with the British Empire well represented and numerous other European and Asian rarities as well.
