1932 Mercury uncleared undenominated die proofs in black on tracing paper, in blue on handmade paper, and in red, orange, steel-blue, olive-green and black x2 on card, a number with pencil annotations on the face, very fine & attractive.

POSTAL HISTORY: 1654 brief entire from Scotland headed "Dumfries 14 May 1654" apparently written in Flemish (?) to "Antwerpen", repaired tear clear of the address panel & minor soiling; and 1765 entire mercantile letter headed "Lixa 24 Septemb 1675" to "Amberes" (= Anvers = Antwerp), beginning "Monsieur" but otherwise in Dutch, with a lengthy postscript also in Dutch but in a different hand, minor blemishes, docketing confirms the origin as "Lixboa" (= Lisbon).
