POSTAL HISTORY: 1654 brief entire from Scotland headed "Dumfries 14 May 1654" apparently written in Flemish (?) to "Antwerpen", repaired tear clear of the address panel & minor soiling; and 1765 entire mercantile letter headed "Lixa 24 Septemb 1675" to "Amberes" (= Anvers = Antwerp), beginning "Monsieur" but otherwise in Dutch, with a lengthy postscript also in Dutch but in a different hand, minor blemishes, docketing confirms the origin as "Lixboa" (= Lisbon).  (2)
