Commerce & Industry: 1925 series of EIGHTEEN progressive working Die proofs, photographic essay, and imperf proof of the issued stamp, on exhibition pages showing the inspiration for the design (a 1901 Greek postage issue), then the proofs progressing from frame only, central engraving being added then proofs in black, followed by the issued colours. State of Rio Grande do Sul: 100r to 50,000r set of ten completed die proofs in issued colours on thin card (155x230mm) with complete die-sinking, each showing die number above impression, offered with Brazil federal Match stamp and 'proceedings' in same format. Foreign Bill: 1862 Perkins Bacon Issue, small collection comprising 1d plate proof Issued 1d (2), 2d, 6d, 1s, 1s6d, 2s, 4s and £1 used, 4s and 6s and 15s mint, with unissued (block lettering) 1s4d mint. Foreign Bill: 1874 De La Rue Issue 5c, 10c, 15c, 30c, 60c and 75c and 1r20c each in an intact mint triplicate strip comprising 'THIRD/SECOND/FIRST' of exchange. A couple with traces of backing adhesion, still a rare and desirable group in this form and condition. (Image)

1902 (Sept 10) stamp-size undenominated master die proof for the KEVII 1902-03 1pi, 2pi, 4½pi values (as Podger BR 27/9 wmk CA and BR 34/6 wmk MCA), in black on glazed card, affixed to piece (52x59mm) from the De La Rue striking book, endorsed in M/S "Sept 10/84 leads + 6 extra" and in red "Oct 23rd 02" (the invoice date). A unique and important item. Ex Bols and De La Rue archives (RL Basel 23/3/1976, lot 245 part), but not referred to by either Bols (1979) or Podger (1997). (Image)

Ecuador: Beautifully written up collection in boxed Frank Godden album showing a high level of completion and study, also selection of BOLIVIA on stock sheets ranging from very early documents to later tobacco issues, stamped paper etc. An interesting lot.

QV- KGV Collection on stock sheets, on album pages and in envelopes, comprising 1883 issue arranged by myriad perforation types featuring all values to £1, 'R' overprints including the rare KEVII £5 on £1 black and blue and £3 on £1 black and blue. A super lot for the specialist with many rare items. (Image)

Judicial: 1899 1d to £5 complete set, with duplicates for all values 6d-10s, the 3d with Inverted Watermark, offered with KEVII 1d to 20s group of 18 values, again with some duplication. A very fine lot- the £5 a major rarity and a denomination which was not issued as a postage stamp. (Image)

1903 De La Rue frame and vignette essays for an unissued £5 value, using a design which was formally submitted to the Colony in 1903 as a composite photographic essay in deep purple with vignette in green. These examples derive from an internal DLR typewritten sample sheet (c.1910) promoting the benefits of the "Printex" process for the rapid production of plates for surface-printing via photo-etched dies. A unique pair of essays in both form and colour combination, with all other known examples pasted together into composite stamps. Splendid! (Image)

Entertainment Duty: 5f blue rouletted and cancelled with lilac oval, affixed to ticket for 'HAMRA CINEMA'. Unique- this the sole known example and is consequently unlisted in Ross & Powell. (Image)

Railway Stamps: 193? Airmail cover from Baghdad to Glasgow, UK bearing IRAQ RAILWAYS 10 Fils (red background, Fuchs RP 5), and Iraq postage 2f (4), 4f, (3), and 5f (3), each cancelled with indistinct hexagonal ds and Baghdad Transit, endorsed 'KLM via Amsterdam' on face. A UNIQUE and spectacular showpiece comprising the top two rows of the sole sheet known, not only demonstrating the highly unusual composite sheet format (with marginal arrows indicating where the column of each value starts) format but also showing plate number one at left, crowned control handstamp in blue, and current number 320 at right.
