1868 Suez Canal Company Collection, starts with a genuine single (pos 17) plus a scarce block of six (pos 5-7 / 17-19) of the 20c blue and the block is accompanied by a 1996 Charles F. Hass certificate. This lot also includes a group of what appears to be forgeries, with 1c (pair and two singles), 5c (x3), 20c (x5 including two with faults) and 40c (x4). These include shades, and we assess them as forgeries based solely on the fact that they appear to have vertical lines between "DE SUEZ" and "POSTES" (as opposed to cross hatched lines). Inspection is recommended. (Image)

Cat No:Collection

Collection on 26 Lighthouse Pages, with NS, PEI and Newfoundland. This mostly mint collection was unfortunately once damaged by water. The stamps were mostly all taken out of their mounts to dry, then placed back in. Some have resulted in unused (no gum) condition, some still have some gum which is mostly glazed by the mounts, a few have had their ink melt onto the page and some are undamaged. This collection would have catalogued quite high, and will need careful inspection to see the extent of the damage, which varies. The collection has been gone through to establish a "market value" ($2,623) which was used to perform an insurance claim. Sold as is, see scans online for an idea of the general appearance. (Image)

Interesting Collection of Stamps, Forgeries and Proofs, starts with a collection of singles, with #1, 2 and 4 (all used with faults), a group of #s 8/13 singles (all mint with many NH, the 5c is used), four early forgeries, three different with curved SPECIMEN overprint plus a Spiro forgery of the 2c on brown paper. Then includes a collection of mint multiples of #s 8/13, including many never hinged, some plate inscription blocks (these catalogue $1,580 in Scott). Finally, we note a collection of plate proofs, some in colour of issue and some trial colour proofs, with singles, pairs and a block of four, a few have SPECIMEN overprints (a few small faults on some, and Unitrade catalogue value is $1,690). All are on India, some card-mounted and we note a scarce strip of four of the 8½c proof on wove paper in green (crease through one stamp). A useful lot, all scanned online. (Image)
