Antarctica: British Expedition 1910-13: 1913 (Mar. 10) letter on Scottish Society of New Zealand, Christchurch stationery written with message of support by James Macintosh, Chief addressed to able seaman William McDonald on board the “Terra Nova” at Lyttelton. William ‘Bill’ McDonald had sailed from Lyttelton on both the second and third voyages of the “Terra Nova” and had helped to build the cross which stands atop Observation Hill, behind Scott Base in honour of the fallen members of the party.
