Collection of Bermuda Postmarks on Covers and Stamps, in three thick binders. An advanced collection organized according to the Bermuda Specialized Catalogue, 2012 ed. classification. Volume 1 is organized alphabetically by Post Office showing copies of each postmark by chronological order. Some postmarks are illustrated by dozens of different stamps as well as a few covers. Most postmarks are from 1920 on. Most of these covers are either local or to Canada. Volume 2 starts with Post Office operational markings such as postage due, return to sender, missent, received in wet condition, Official Paid, Air Mail, Airlift, A.O., Surface Mail etc. Then covers with TB and Cancer labels, followed by postal stationery, machine cancels, metered postage and finally, Postage Paid markings and cancels. Volume 3 starts with US Navy Base in Bermuda covers, Paquebot markings and the Hamilton postmarks. Various Air Mail, Parcel Post, Postage Paid postmarks follow. Comprehensive Collection of KGVI Military and Civilian Air Letters, with over 100 items, including a 1933 forerunner unused Iraq first air letter card designed by Gumbley, two unused Mulready envelopes (1d st. #A25, 2d st. # a92), 1941 air letter with "AUSTRALIA" printed in address panel used to Victoria, 6 items headed "AIR / LETTER" (2 with blue triangles, one with "Tyres checked and batteries topped / Japs wrecked and Python dropped" printed on back), 29 Indian types (including 4 unused and 10 Christmas types) and so much more (owner's rough list enclosed). Also included are two books by O.R.J. 1941 Registered Airmail Cover to Canada, a large OHMS British Consulate cover mailed from Willemstadt on OCT.14.1941 and addressed to the Naval control Service officer at Sydney, Nova Scotia. Routing via Pan-Am Clipper to Miami, Moncton AMF NG, Halifax and Truro RPO, with Sydney arrival on OCT.20 where two official seals were required to repair the cover. Passed DUTY FREE handstamp at Sydney, franked with #s C5, C14 (x28) paying the huge 19.75gr rate. Vertical crease and other faults still attractive. (Image)

1870 Seige of Paris Ballon Monté Folded Letter, mailed from Paris on OCT.8.1870 to Orléans (NOV.13 receiver on back) and franked with a 20c blue Napoléon, tied by a Paris Star cancel. The cover was apparently first carried on the "unnamed balloon #2" which, because of the northerly winds was not able to pass the besiegers, began to slowly deflate and landed in a pond, 50 meters from the enemy sentinels. The mail was saved and sent back to Paris, and it was then carried destination on the next balloon, this time on the Washington. Fine. Scott #BM8, Maury value 400€. (Image)

1870 Seige of Paris Ballon Monté Folded Letter, mailed from Paris on NOV.8.1870 to Rochefort (NOV.29 receiver on back) and franked with a 20c blue Napoléon, tied by a Paris Star cancel. This is a printed "lettre-journal" (mini-newspaper) La Gazelle des Absents dated November 5, 1870 which has a hand-written letter inside. It was carried by the balloon Gironde which had been chartered by the Telegraph Service. The aeronaut was M. Galley, a sailor and the passengers were Messrs Herbaut, Gambes and Barrey. Three pigeons were also carried, these birds belonging to M. Derouards. Fine. Scott #BM27, Maury value 550€. (Image)

Comprehensive Collection of About 85 Airgraphs, all on pages in a binder, and includes11 original forms, of which 7 are illustrated (1 Polish, 1 American V-Mail), 2 pieces of microfilm with photo prints, 1 Target showing the routing, 62 airgraphs (49 are illustrated, 3 of which are paired with matching forms, 3 are matched with air letters with the same illustrations and 4 are Polish Christmas or Easter Greeting types, one with a matching form). Many of the airgraphs have matching delivery envelopes. There are explanatory postal marking, including "Beleived returned to United Kingdom", a South African airgraph envelope "No trace and Discharged to Commission", 2 different airgraph envelopes with "Could not be delivered... Addressees POW", British form with 8d stamp to the USA "No service / Postage Prepaid" and a printed slip with 5 reasons why an airgraph could not be forwarded, an airgraph with "Duplicate / Original lost". Comes with E.H. Keeton's book which was his life's work on airgraphs and is the most comprehensive reference on airgraphs available (261 pages). many items in the collection are referenced to the appropriate part of the book.
