1915 Lusitania sinking (May 10), British iron restrike of German propaganda medal, 54 mm diameter. The German medal promotes “Keine Bannware” (no contraband) and depicts guns and aeroplanes. The reverse shows the Cunard ticket office with the phrase “Geschaft uber alles” (Business above all), and a skeleton selling tickets to passengers who were warned against German submarines. Of course the Lusitania did not carry weapons, but 1,198 men, women and children perished. Ironically both sides struck this coin to keep the memory alive and promote their version of events. USA WWI Service Flag “Over There”, handmade felt backing with star and “Service Over There”, some aging as expected, 11x 17” approximately. These were hung in the window to display patriotism and indicate how many sons were overseas, one son = 1 star. The phrase “Over There” likely originates with the 1917 song of the same name by George M. Cohan, and specifically Al Brown’s “There’s a Service Flag Flying at Our House”. (Image)

Nuremburg Trials, original visitor ticket, 101mm x 50mm “VISITORS’ GALLERY INTERNATIONAL MILITARY TRIBUNAL / (scales of Justice logo) Seat No 2 Session 89”. The ticket is assigned to seat number 2, with the name “Ira McNaught” written on the reverse. McNaught’s obituary is enclosed which states, “After the Second World War, where he was a navigator on Liberators, he was sent as an observer at the Nuremberg War Trials.” As seat number two, he was likely an important observer seated in section 20 where there were just a few seats, in the front row, in front of the press. A rare collectible, with only a few found online, including the US Holocaust Museum, a German museum and a few at high end auctions. Adolph Eichmann, was a German-Austrian SS leader and major architect of the Holocaust. He was captured in Argentina in 1960 and his trial was the first of the War Tribunal to be held, and filmed in Israel. His capture was portrayed in the film, “Operation Finale”. This ticket, from Session 89 was held July 10, 1961. He was found guilty and executed by hanging in 1962. A 35 minute film of this session is available from the US Holocaust museum at https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/irn1001799. (Image)
