Mailed 20 days before the 1st Battle of Gaza (26 March).
Holyland.Australian WWI military mail in Palestine: 19 MR 1917 stampless green honour envelope (no printers mark) from FPO MD 2 (Australian Imperial Mounted Division, here 7 days prior to involvement in 1st Battle of Gaza of 26 March) to editor of "Pictures" publication LONDON 'Blighty', tied by rare skeleton date-stamp FB DS-51 (in use 12 March - 21 April). As per address and 'Blighty' - possibly sent by British member of the unit. Slit open at top.

Posted 7 days before unit's involvement in failed 2nd Battle of Gaza (17-19 April). Opened gently at back (resealed).
