The Straight-Line "jamaica" Datestamps Types J4-6. 1799 (16 Apr.) entire to Edinburgh, appearing to be an example of a Ship Letter charged half Packet rate under a 1799 Act, being 10d. half packet rate plus 1/4d. inland charge for a total of 2/2d., showing on reverse "jamaica/16 apr 99" J4 datestamp, the earliest recorded date of use, and London transit datestamp (25.5).
