1895 commercial cover to Sydney with 'SURCHARGE/2½D.' on 8d mauve SG 23 tied by cds with Large '95' Decade & Year Wheels (used only in 1895), Auckland transit & Sydney arrival b/s, small faults. [The really odd thing is that the '95' digits were made of rubber, not steel]
1900 usage of rare Undivided Back PPC ('Tonga Tabu. Tombs of the old Tongan kings') to NZ with 1897 Pictorials 1d & Bisected 3d Ha'amoga both tied by 'VAVAU' cds, Nukualofa transit b/s & Auckland arrival cds, corner fault. Unauthorised usage: the sender writes "...cut in two...I think it will be a novelty..." Ex Martin Baxendale: bought at an Italian auction in 1992 for £207.
