FORGERIES: Group of 14 Sperati forgeries all with "SPERATI REPRODUCTION" handstamps on reverse, incl. 1850 6r and 10r, 1851 2r and 10r, 1853 6r, 1853 3cu, 1860-61 19cu, 1867 19cu, 1870 19cu, 1872 4p and 10p, 1873 10p and 1875 4p (faults), very fine unless otherwise stated and a rare group of forgeries for the specialist. 1850 12 cuartos lilac with red cds “SANTIAGO 5 MAYO 1850 GALICIA“ and Araña, according to certificate Graus "an item of extraordinary rarity - of great interest for the specialised collection". The Baeza circular date stamp cancellation is very rare on 12 cuartos, with probably only three examples known (see book of the Jose Alberto Barreras collection); cert. Graus (Edifil €3'250); ex Alemany. (Image)

1865-71 Entire from Malaga to Buenos Aires with 1870 50m, 100m and 200m tied by dotted cancels and thimble cds, "via Lisboa" with Badajoz transit, put aboard RMSPC SS "Boyne" to Buenos Aires, the 50m with light crease, fine; and front of Valentine envelope with embossed surround from Barcelona to Buenos Aires, with 1865 2r pair, fine to large margins, cancelled by "2" numeral with despatch cds adjacent, endorsed "Ultramar via Lisboa" but routed via France and London on 24th February and most likely put aboard RMSPC SS "Oneida" leaving Southampton for Buenos Aires (very rare usage of a Valentine from Spain to South America). 1925 & 1930, Two Post Office displays, incl. 1925 Red Cross (printed by Waterlow) with Spanish postage and airmail sets and an example from each of the Colonies affixed, and display with 1930 Pro Union Ibero-Americana postage and airmail stamps, every stamp overprinted "MUESTRA" (Specimen) with some inverted on the 1930 display, very attractive items.
