NORWAY; 1902 Cover from Norwegian POW in Bermuda, envelope to Lillehammer franked with Bermuda 1d strip of three tied by Hamilton Bermuda FE 19 1902 cds plus strike of "PRISONER OF WAR BERMUDA / PASSED CENSOR" handstamp, on backflap "From Ingvold Schr+¦der Nielsen / Prisoner of War / Hawkins island / Bermuda", with additional penciled notations in Norwegian not in sender's hand, Lillehammer 9.III.02 arrival backstamp, cover opened at bottom, Very Fine, very few Norwegians fought on the Boer side of the warrnSchroder-Nielsen was a Norwegian who came to South Africa in August 1898 and kept a diary of his experiences before and during the war which remained unpublished for decades until being released in 2013, "Amongst the Boers in Peace and War", translated from the original text to make it more accessible to the public. The reason is that his diary was initially confiscated by the British, after he was captured, but it was later recovered and published in 1925 in Norwegian. (Image)

SWEDEN; 1901 Postal Card to Swedish POW in St Helena, addressed to "Carl Mellquist / Prisoner of war / Deadwood Camp / St Helena", Sweden 5o postal card uprated with 10o and tied by a very light PKXP. No 66 / 22 10 1901 TPO cancel with a 23.10.01 transit cancel at lower left, triangular "PASSED BY CENSOR DEADWOOD" marking (no initials), card with portion of top left side reattached, accompanied by a cover front addressed to Mellquist with Bolnas cds and the generic circular prisoner of war handstamp, Fine rnMellquist was taken prisoner after the Battle of Magersfontein.
