1869 Sir James Brooke 3c brown/yellow SG 1 block of 10 (5x2), some characteristic irregular perfs, a few minor bends, large-part o.g. - scarce thus - with four units being unmounted, Cat £550++ for mounted singles. A very desirable block. [Batty-Smith & Watterson state that most unused examples on the market have no gum, as a result of being washed-apart from a brick of sheets that had been stuck together!]

[Batty-Smith et al state that the 'S'-in-Bars was introduced only a few months before the Charles Brooke stamps were issued and thus "...is very rarely found on the 1869 issue..."]
