1879: Coat of Arms 1 c. green and 10 c. black, used on June 22, 1883 envelope from San Salvador to London, endorsed "Via de Panamá", cancelled / tied by superb intaglio star in circle with a "SAN SALVADOR" despatch cds in red and clear French octagonal "ASPINWALL / PAQ. FR. A No. 2 1 JUIL. 83" shipmail datestamp (Salles vol IV, fig. 1416) alongside. Reverse with London arrival (July 25, 1882) cds in red. Horizontal fold and tear at right of adhesives, nevertheless an appealing Shipmail cover which made its journey on the steamer 'Lafayette' on the French line A fom Aspinwall/Colon to St. Nazaire.rnProvenance: 100.
